OMG: I got Best Podcaster at the She Awards!

Wow, so International Women's Day 2024 was 2 weeks ago, and I'm still reveling in the festivities of the day!

Lets just say in one day I had to get to 3 places and little did I know at the final event (The She Awards) I would be announced as Best Podcaster along with a friend of mine who has her own Podcast!

I'm still settling into this.. as less that 10 months ago, Brown Girl Rising did not exist.
I am thankful for the recognition and to those ladies that nominated me for this award! You Rock!

Sure for years I'd wanted to host a podcast (I mean I'd been a voluntary radio presenter for years in my 20's) so love to talk... but BGR is more than me talking into a microphone and entertaining people with music and short statements about the world!

YEP BGR is about inspiring women to be better, to show up for themselves, to love themselves to the core, it's about inspiring women to take their power back, inspiring women to put themselves first and live a life they want to live not one that they think they should live.

We've had women who've surThrived narcissistic relationships, women have over come immense grief and now help others, women who've been kicked out of Uganda during the Idi Amin rule and lived to tell the tale when they were nearly shot! We've had spiritual stories of awakening and connections, I've shared my story of overcoming Big T Trauma, we've had episodes on how to gain more confidence and self worth, to styling and owning the aging process.

Honestly everything a brown woman would want to chat about with her friends is on this podcast, and that's what I've done, create open conversations with women who are leading the way in hopes to set alight a little spark in those that know there is more out there for them!
